Mainly the new developments are comprised of a huge decline in sales and store closings. Since we are in an obvious recession, a lot of business is being lost, therefore the companies and retailers suffer immensely.
Such closings are Circuit City, Anne Taylor, KB toys, Van Huesen, Sears, Gap Inc., Macys, and many more.
Fortunately the retail industry has a huge block of employment, but still not as much as previous years.
Companies are constantly looking for ways to cut cost so that there will be at least some upturn in profit. We have recently seen the worst holiday season in a very very long time. Hopefully someone can come up with a new and innovative way to make profits and boost annual sales to pull out of these hard times.

Main trends of the New York Fashion Week-CRS 231
For Fall 2009 fashions there were a lot of upbeat colors such as neon pinks, oranges, and yellows mixed with charcoals, grays, and blacks. There were a bunch of high waisted very skinny fitting skirts that had elaborate high slits just showing bare legs. A lot of variety for the urban woman. I saw a mix of leathers incorporated into the outfits with some extremely high leather boots, dreses, and jackets with zippers to accessorize them. The high black stilleto boots were also very prominate in a lot of the collections that i viewed such as Alexander Wang and Rodarte. There was a lot of metallics, crystals, and coppers. Lots of off the shoulder detail with plenty of cocktail dresses, and just a very sleek look to a lot of the designers outfits.
One of my favorite looks was a satin bubble skirts that was a beautiful purple color by Oscar De La Renta!!

Eco Friendly Clothing CRS 231
I think I good eco friendly alternative to clothing would be hemp. It goes along with other organic clothing that is good for the environment. Hemp is the same thing that you can make rope from. It helps against the fight of global warming, and also protects human rights. Hemp can be organically grown with out any pesticides or chemicals. Not only is it good for the environment but it is also; in my opinion, extremely comfortable, and a great idea. (www.Rawganique.com).
